Dear imposter syndrome:

Dear imposter syndrome,

I know you’re there, standing behind the scenes, and looking out for me whenever I enter new, uncharted territory.

Maybe you’re there to remind me I’ve never done this before, so I should be more aware of it, and do my best, given how the situation is new.

I thank you for showing up when you do because I guess it means that I’m learning and growing, and I want to continue doing this for as long as I live.

I know with enough time, practice, and when I feel comfortable with the uncomfortable, that you’ll retreat, take a break, and let me do my thing again.

Thanks for looking out for my growth and giving me the gentle courage to keep doing what I’m doing.

Because courage tends to show up after you.

– Portia
